Our Story / Nuestra historia

The first edition of the conference took place at the International Congress of Feminist Research in the Francophonie in Paris in August 2018.

Across the Americas, Indigenous women continue to struggle against systemic discrimination where racial, sexist, class, and cis-heteronormative violence come together to foster colonial and patriarchal domination. This symposium brought together Indigenous activists and researchers to reflect on historicity, current issues and obstacles, and the impact of colonial power relations on the violence experienced by Indigenous women. There was also talk of forms of activism, resistance and solidarity in a perspective of decolonization.

This symposium was organized by Véronica Gomes and Ludivine Tomasso, in collaboration with the Quebec Network of Feminist Studies (RéQEF). This conference also benefited from the financial support of the Ministère des Relations internationales and La Francophonie, the Quebec Research Fund - Nature and Technologies (FRQNT), LOJIQ - The International Youth Offices of Quebec, the Research Institute and feminist studies of UQAM and AEEAS - Student Association for Advanced Studies in Sociology, UQAM. La primera edición de la conferencia tuvo lugar en el Congreso Internacional de Investigación Feminista en la Francofonía de París en agosto de 2018.

En todo el continente americano, las mujeres indígenas continúan luchando contra la discriminación sistémica donde la violencia racial, sexista, de clase y cis-heteronormativa se unen para fomentar la dominación colonial y patriarcal. Este symposio reunió a activistas e investigadores para reflexionar sobre la historicidad, los problemas y los obstáculos actuales, y el impacto de las relaciones de poder coloniales en la violencia experimentada por las mujeres indígenas. También se habló de formas de militancia, resistencia y solidaridad en una perspectiva de descolonización.

Este simposio fue organizado por Véronica Gomes y Ludivine Tomasso, en colaboración con la Red de Estudios Feministas de Quebec (RéQEF).
